2079 respondents took part in this poll in 24 regions of Ukraine and in Crimea. 84% of the population of Ukraine use cell phones actively. One in ten uses two phones, and 1.5% of Ukrainians have three or more mobile phones.
Among those 16% of Ukrainians who is still not using mobile services are not only babushkas or older people in the remote villages, but also those who fundamentally refuse the benefits of civilization such as cell phones. "I know a lawyer who does not want to buy a mobile. He says that cell phones violate his personal space. According to him, his clients, colleagues or friends can always reach him on his landline telephone.” – said one of the Kyivans.
Most Ukrainians - 89% - have a simple mobile phone. 7% use a smartphone or communicator, and 3% have a simple mobile phone and a smartphone at the same time. Slightly less than two thirds of the population of the country - 58% - continues to use the landline phone, and every fourth Ukrainian (26%) said that they can live without it.
The oldest of the existing means of communication – traditional mail - continues to be a popular channel to exchange information and it is still used by a quarter of the population (25%), but already a third (33%) of respondents could live without it. Approximately 22% of users in addition to traditional mail already use email as a communication channel, while 37% of Ukrainians still don’t need it too much.
About a quarter of Ukrainians (23%) use social networks for communication, but 39% of Ukrainians could live without it.
The least popular of electronic communication means among Ukrainians are instant messengers (ICQ, Skype etc.) - only 15% of respondents have used their services in the last month, and 41% of Ukrainians don’t need them.
The least common communication channel for Ukrainians is a delivery service, only 4% of respondents say they use this type of services, and 41% could do without them.
